Marathon motivation is a key aspect of getting yourself through four months of training and to the finish line after 26.2 miles of pounding miles.
***Finish second marathon*** I got my bro to start training for his first marathon! ... and I joined him! We ran the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon on January 17, 2010!
While everyone has their own way of pushing themselves, I found reading about other runners'
Sometimes hearing these personal accounts help me get over the mental hill that's in my way. I'm sure they would help you to stop everything and start running up that hill too!
from running magazines, books, movies, etc. also helped me. Taping them to my mirror, desk or writing them down in my exercise journal kept them top-of-mind.
Here's a quick trailer from a new marathon movie that will get you psyched!
Another big help was watching "Prefontaine" (the one with Jared Leto, 1997). I must have watched it 30 times throughout my training.
Running clubs help a lot too. Remember the old adage - strength in numbers? Well, it plays big time here!
PLUG I support my growing family through this website.
If you find this Best Marathon Stories page as helpful as a book you might have had to buy or a workshop you may have had to take, feel free to help me continue helping everyone.
If you've gotten your gear through one of my links such as Amazon or helped otherwise, you're family. It's great people like you who allow me to keep adding to this site full-time. Thanks!
If you haven't helped yet, please do, and consider helping me with a gift of $5.00. Or just e-mail me your Best Marathon Stories!
The biggest help is to use this link to Amazon when you get your goodies. It costs you nothing and is a huge help. Amazon usually has the best prices and service, which is why I've used it since before this website existed. I recommend it personally.
Also, if you're thinking about building a website, check out Site Build It! It's how I built this website and more importantly started making additional monthly income.
I've started creating my own running music. My first track is called "Piano Man One" from iTunes for $.99. Thanks for your support!
iPhone Runmeter 5 Stars!
Runmeter is my favorite iPhone running app. It tracks pace, distance and is easily integrated with Twitter, Facebook and DailyMile. Best part about it... it talks to you and gives you updates from your social feeds when some replies to your running update. I hear "Great Job" and "Keep Running" a lot. Some even try to sing to me! :) I love the running community so much! Download here:
