Best Running Shorts Comfortable and Sans Chafing
The best running shorts come in all different shapes and sizes from brands including Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Saucony, Mizuno, Asics, Brooks and New Balance. All have some great options and grace the hips of many marathoners. Also, every specialized running store stocks a selection from all these brands. Like the running shoe, don't pick running shorts based solely on brand or color. Below, you'll find a quick overview of the best running shorts. Basically, there are three types you'll want to choose from - medium, short and very short. FYI - Try not to choose anything over a seven-inch inseam. They tend to be too baggy and just seem to always be in the way while running. Medium These shorts come in the seven- to six-inch range, stop just below the knees and are a very versatile choice. They're a bit shorter than regular basketball shorts and are a lot lighter. Use these if you're not comfortable with showing off anything above the knees. The Adidas Supernova 7"

or the Zoot Run Fit V 6" are nice selections.

Short I tend to go with the short selection. They are very light, don't swing back and forth causing chafeage and I feel like they cover enough area. They usually come in the five-inch range. They're lighter and stealthier than the medium options, but still keep the majority of your upper leg concealed. The Nike Dri Fit 5" is a nice selection.

Very Short These are not for the light hearted runners. They are very short, but very light and very fast. The tend to show a bit too much skin for me. Call me vain, but I think I have thick thighs so I stay away from these bad boys. I'll leave them to the hardcore runners! :) The New Balance Rival 4" is a nice selection.

Overall, you need to find a pair of shorts that will fit comfortably, are nice and light, have a inside pocket for an ID or key and don't chafe!
